Since 2002, Godrej & Boyce’s in house magazine, Change, has shared what change means to the individual and society. 14 years later, the makers of Change thought it time to repurpose the publication for relevance and accessibility.
‘Reach Out to Grow’ with an Exports focus, was the theme of the next issue. We used the theme to explore not just alternative approaches to the cover itself, but a deeper delve into the magazine’s structure and layout. We refreshed Change with a contemporary look and feel. On the cover, the background image of a dockyard is readily associated with trade and exports. The origami takes the original image forward, implying a progression.
The combination of fonts, types, photographs, illustrations and layout is deliberate: it reinforces the idea of a ‘magazine’. The fluid grid injects freshness into the layout, allowing for permutations, drawing the eye to different spaces on the page. It widens the scope to create ‘looks’ for article types. ‘Blast from the Past’, the archival section, has a vintage, newspapery feel, while Launchpad has a stylised, advertorial look.
